CANBERRA, THE MEETING PLACE
This artwork captures Canberra as a sacred gathering site on Ngunnawal/Ngambri Country. For thousands of years, Canberra has been a place where many Aboriginal nations (Ngunnawal, Ngambri, Ngarigo, Wiradjuri, Yuin, and others) came together. Here, people shared ceremonies, law, stories, and trade, nourished by the land’s abundant water, food, and shelter. This artwork celebrates the ongoing tradition of connection, community, and cultural exchange that continues to bring people together today.

THE BRINDABELLA MOUNTAINS
This artwork honours the Brindabella Mountains, a spiritual and life-giving landscape that stands tall on Ngunnawal/Ngambri Country. The mountains hold sacred sites, are linked to Dreaming stories, and have sustained people with food, water, medicine, and shelter. They were places of seasonal travel, hunting, and ceremony – vital for maintaining songlines and trade routes. This artwork expresses the deep respect and ongoing responsibility the Ngunnawal people have in protecting and caring for this powerful part of our Country.

THE MURRUMBIDGEE RIVER
This artwork depicts the Murrumbidgee River, the lifeblood flowing through Ngunnawal/Ngambri Country. More than water, this is a sacred presence woven into Dreaming stories, cultural practices, and everyday life. For thousands of years, the river has provided food, medicine, and pathways for
travel and trade. The connection remains strong, and the Traditional Owners continue to protect and restore the river’s health for future generations. This artwork reflects that enduring bond and the role as Custodians.

Indigenous artist Eddie Longford has spent the majority of his life on Ngunnawal, Ngambri, and Wiradjuri Country. He is passionate about creating artwork that reflects the land that he grew up on and that holds great significance to his family.
His art pays homage to the Ngunnawal, Ngambri, and Wiradjuri traditional owners by incorporating elements of their sacred land into his work. Eddie’s artistic style is a blend of contemporary Indigenous influences, drawing from traditional styles found throughout Australia, as well as non-traditional elements and vibrant colours, giving his pieces a unique and easily recognisable character. Eddie specialises in harmonising traditional hues with bold non-traditional shades, and he takes great pride in the meticulous detail of his work.
In addition to developing exclusive designs that are specifically tailored to meet your needs of your organisation, Eddie can also provide informational sessions to students, staff, and team members to explain the significance of his art and the stories behind them.
We encourage organisations to engage with their local Indigenous or First Nations community to commission Indigenous artwork so that the story behind the artwork relates directly to your community and location. “What’s the appropriate term? Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, Aborigine, Indigenous, Black, Blackfella, First Australians, First Nations People. Terms have different meanings to different people and are wrapped in the history and politics of the time. But what’s the appropriate term? There’s not a unanimous view, but some are considered more appropriate to use than others. It’s helpful to understand why that’s the case. Ultimately it’s important to be respectful of the preferences of individuals, families, or communities, and allow them to define what they are most comfortable with.” We have used the term Indigenous on this website, after consulting information from here and here.
Dye Sublimation Printing

Dye sublimation printing (sometimes called fully sublimated or sub printing) is a digital printing technology that uses heat to transfer dye onto fabric. The dye is converted into a gas and then infused into the material, resulting in a vibrant and long-lasting print.

Sublimation printing works best on fabrics with a high polyester content. Polyester fibres have a higher affinity for the sublimation inks, resulting in better colour transfer and vibrancy. It is possible to sublimate onto fabrics with a polyester blend, although the results may vary.

Sublimation printing is ideal for producing high-quality and detailed images, and is commonly used in the production of customised items such as sporting apparel. Dye sublimation printing is an excellent choice for creating unique and personalised sportswear.
